TPE – Thermoplastic Elastomer

Unlike TPU, TPE materials are not reactor products which means material is melt and homogenize with various raw materials in extruder systems. Tailored properties of TPE material are achieved my mixing SBC compounds such as SBS and SEBS with other components such as various fillers, oils that instil properties and/or improve process ability, and additives in mixing ratios for specific property and respective compound’s impact on it. Varied properties are also achieved with different temperature profiles of material processing.

Our speciality lies in formulation of the compound ratios and the processing parameters giving us endless possibilities with diversifies applications. NPPL has been able to create a portfolio of TPE products with great expertise that cater to current market and customer requirement; tailor made for specific requirements. We also work with customers, advising on processing and co-working to make most common used methods of TPE are extrusion and injection moulding. However, industry is evolving and with that new manufacturing processes that are compatible with these elastomers include blow moulding and 3D printing.

Properties :

  1. Range of transparency achievable
  2. Pleasant Surface Feel (Soft Touch)
  3. Tacky surface fell
  4. Adhesion to Polar thermoplastic such as ABS, PC & PP
  1. Good Tear strength, abrasion resistance
  2. High Flexibility
  3. Durability
  4. Low compression set

TPE elastomer has excellent adhesion property with polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE) and polystyrene (PS), as well as with engineering plastics such as polycarbonate (PC), acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS), styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer (SAN), polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), etc. This makes it possible for materials to be co-processed resulting in multi-component injection moulding and co-extrusion.

Typical Applications :

  1. Kitchen Utensils
  2. Household Articles
  3. Household Appliances
  4. Consumable Goods
  5. Soft Grip
  1. Seals
  2. Shoe sole material
  3. Shock-absorbing material
  4. Packing material grips
  5. Anti-slip pads, rubber and plastic modification
